This idea occurred to me over the summer as I was staring absently out my window. I was looking at the three maples in our front yard and thought 'What would these trees be like as people?' (Yes, I know it sounds insane, but that's the way my brain works.) I chose the poses based on the shape of the trees and the orientation of the branches.
The first tree (from the left) is the smallest maple with the most vibrant colors. It seemed as though it was withering too early like it's starting to die, so I made the lines less defined than the other two. To me, the little tree appeared to be reaching out to the middle one.
The middle tree is tall and willowy with blander colors. On each side, its branches seemed to be enveloping the other two in a motherly fashion.
The third tree is a stout, round red maple. Not much can be said for my thought process here; it just kind of flowed out from my pen.

One of these days I'll take a picture of these three to show you guys that I'm not completely mental.

Sorry its so rough and grainy; the scanner was having trouble balancing light and shadow on the rough paper. Oh, and ignore the crap job I did with the middle tree's hand. *sigh*
